The Book
This lovely poetic board book is a celebration of nature. A diverse group of children worldwide express their love and gratefulness to Mother Earth as she brings them the sun, wind, rain, snow, lightning and thunder for them to experience in their native lands.
"The sun is a shine, that wakens the day, sparkles the dew, makes everything new. Miigwetch, merci, golden Sun. Thank you, thank you, shining one."
Kids not only learn about the weather but also are introduced to different ways to say thank you in a variety of languages. The author has included a list of thank you words for the reader's information. Words spoken in Ojibew, French Canadian, Arabic, Oshiwambo, Spanish, Bangladesh, Sammi, Scottish Gaelic and Mandarin Chinese to name a few. Both young and old will benefit from that knowledge I'm sure.
The illustrations are simple, colourful and engaging. I recommend this book.
