About the book

"Creep Campers" is the third book in the Misadventures of Michael McMichaels.  It's targeted at kids in grades 1-5.  It's about 90 pages long and has illustrations that enrich the story greatly.  Each book in the series provides a strong message geared to helping kids make strong, morally sound choices which I'm sure you will agree are greatly needed these days.

Michael and his best friend Kenny fly off to a summer camp in New Mexico.  Upon arrival they discover it is a very competitive camp with tough challenges to overcome.  Michael gets caught up in the competing and (winning against all odds) spirit of the activities and decides to cross a few lines so he can win.  He does it once and from then on it gets easier and easier to be deceptive.  His conscience weighs heavy on him and once he accepts the fact that cheating is not the way to proceed and has dire consequences, he makes the right choice to morally do the right thing and change his dastardly ways.  But can he follow through with that decision?  It feels awfully good to be a winner and have accolades from those around you.  Making up your mind and actually doing it is tough.

I love the familiar up-to-date language in the book that modern kids will so easily identify with.  Michael is smart, witty, funny, and deep down inside a very good little boy.  Every one daily has to make choices between making things easy and doing the right thing.  It's lovely to have a series of books that can be discussed and to guide young minds to realize that right is always the best way to go in life.  I highly, highly recommend this book and the entire series.
