The Book
This is an adorable book with colourful, vibrant illustrations that I know beginning readers will love. A little girl teaches her flock of chickens not only how to read but to love doing it. It is the perfect book to get kids excited about reading. The book is a wonderful tool for teachers and parents to have in their arsenal to teach kids how the reading process works.
"How to Hatch a Reader" is full of humour and fun. The little girl instructs her chickens to rest their chicken cheeks and get comfortable. Witty puns fly throughout the pages which will make both kids and adults laugh. The chickens practice letter sounds, point out common sight words, and much more.
Kids can watch for a little fox that pops up on each page. How fun is that? The author has included useful back matter that will be beneficial to both parents and caregivers. I would recommend that the book be placed in classrooms and school libraries. I love the book and highly, highly recommend it.
