Editorial Reviews

“I loved Lucy Tries Baseball! Makes me wish I was still coaching!  Lisa does a wonderful job encouraging kids to try different sports, and with this one being about baseball, I’d have to say it’s my favourite.  The more we can all do to help our kids be active, the better!”
Dan Shulman, Toronto Blue Jays play-by-play announcer and sportscaster

“I really enjoyed Lucy Tries Baseball! Lisa identifies the struggle that children go through when trying something new and overcoming insecurities, while explaining some of the intricacies of the great game of baseball. Let's keep our kids active!”
Chris Reitsma, former Major League Baseball pitcher

“Lucy Tries Baseball is a great book for kids. Sport teaches us life lessons, like how to battle through when things get tough. Lucy is a great example of what it looks like to persevere through different challenges. I hope you enjoy this book as much as my kids and I do!”
Justin Morneau, former Major League Baseball infielder, American League MVP and father of five

The Book

Lucy and her family are at the park playing catch and having a great time together.  She gets invited to join her friends' baseball team!  Is she up to the challenge?

She decides to give it a go and discovers her coach is encouraging and friendly to all the players especially the novice ones.  He patiently teaches them the basics of the sport of baseball.  Lucy loves the logistics of the game but fears getting hit by the ball.

Forever the encourager, coach Al helps Lucy overcome her fear.  She steps up to the plate and gives it her best swing.  Lucy is excited to be part of the game at hand and feels very happy to be part of her new-found sport.

"Lucy Tries Baseball" is the sixth title in the "Lucy Tries Sports" series. Other books available are about basketball, hockey, soccer, short track and luge.  The mission of the series is to get kids active and involved in sports and recreation.  The illustrations are phenomenal and very kid-friendly.  I love the book and the whole concept of kids becoming much more active and I highly recommend it!
