You know the old song, "Making a list and checking it twice?" Well I am one person who loves lists and make them often. I get so discombobulated in my head that these precious lists keep me on track and sane. Don't even get me started on post-it notes. Those little reminders that come in a variety of sizes and colours....all stuck to everything around me...making me live in a paper rainbow of words and nudges of things not to forget or to do.
What is the definition of a list anyway? It is a database containing an ordered array of items (names or topics)
Why do we make lists anyway? Well because....
1. They bring order to our chaos (and man these days I have a lot of that going on)
2. They help us remember things (yup for sure)
3. Most lists are finite (well for that day anyway)
4. Lists can be meaningful (only to the person who makes them everyone else says What the ???)
5. Lists can be as long or as short as you want. (that is comforting to know)
6. Lists can make you famous...look at Martha Stewart or Schindler (pretty cool)
7. Word "lists" can be tracked back to William Shakespeare (thou doest forget too much!)
8. Lists relieve stress and focus the mind. (the only thing is you have to focus and remember to read it)
9. Lists can force you to say revealing things (so don't leave them laying around for prying eyes)
10. They can keep us from procrastinating (I'll make my list later and then get right on it)

* A fun list to check out is found at www.stylist.co.uk - you can go there and find "100 best opening lines from children's books." How cool is that?
* Google "100 top kid books of all times" and get that list...that is fun to do and start reading
*Google "100 best books of the 20th century" - www.cattermole.com/page4.htm
* If you are a list "nut" an opera singer named James Frater, from New Zealand, has a website at www.listverse.com (The List Universe). There is every kind of list you can imagine there. Very, very interesting to dive into.
