Quote of the day:

Series: 3rd book, KeeKee's Big Adventure Series

Let's peek inside shall we?

About the book:

Travelling around the world is so exciting and KeeKee, the calico kitty invites you to accompany her in her hot air balloon because she is flying off to Athens, Greece. Athens is one of the oldest cities in the whole wide world.  Want to jump aboard and join her?

She is a first class traveller and when she lands she beckons to you to tag along as she explores the famous Greek sights: the Parthenon, the historic theatres, run the olympic stadium with her, and discover the place were Play-doh is created, just to name a few.

The shopping in Athens is divine and the food utterly amazing.  She stuffs herself on moussaka, olives and tzatziki until she herself looks like a stuffed olive herself.

She is educated on the history of Athen's ancient building designs  and Plato.  Plato was a very, very smart man, and while a philosopher, was also a mathematician and very famous and influential in ancient Greece.

The clever author has included a Prononciation guide and Glossary of words, phrases and places at the back of the book.   The illustrations are colourful and expressive and young readers will be delighted to become KeeKee's travelling companion and explore beautiful Athens with her.  No only is this book entertaining it is also educational which I really like.

About the author:

Shannon's love of travel began at a young age. It opened her eyes and ears to the world. As a grownup, living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with her husband Paul and kitty KeeKee, the idea for KeeKee's Big Adventures was born. After twenty years in the marketing field, Shannon is launched on her new adventures, following her passion for writing and excited to be helping kids in their quest for learning and discovery.
Shannon's first book KeeKee's Big Adventures in Paris, France won the Independent Book Publishers Association Benjamin Franklin Awards Silver for Best First Children's Book in April 2014 and Gold Mom's Choice Award in Autumn 2013. KeeKee's Big Adventures in Rome, Italy received a Gold Mom's Choice Award in April 2013.
Shannon's third book, KeeKee's Big Adventures in Athens, Greece, lands October 29, 2014!

About the illustrator:

After growing up in Texas with her mom, dad, older brother and sister, and several cats, Casey Uhelski graduated from high school and decided to study art at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Currently, she lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with her long-term significant other (“and sadly, no cats”), doing children’s illustration, concept art, storyboards, and more.
