About the book...

One day Duncan was happily coloring,  absorbed in his crayon heaven, when a pile of postcards arrive in his mailbox. Who could possibly be sending postcards to him?  Turns out that these postcards are from a whole other batch of crayons that Duncan had previously owned. These are the crayons that he lost, that he left behind or simply didn't care about anymore and the poor abandoned throw-aways are now begging to return to their crayon box, their once familiar home.

Maroon was only used once-to draw a scab and was lost over 2 years ago beneath the sofa cushions, tan cannot even tell what color he is anymore and is devastated because he was eaten and thrown up by the family dog and is now covered in carpet fuzz, brown is upset because he is always used to color poop. Burnt Sienna was chewed up and spit back out by the dog, poor Turquoise's head was stuck to one of Duncan's socks after they both ended up in the dryer together, and Pea Green, who knows darn well that no kid likes peas ran away and changed his name. They all want to come back home.  

Duncan's heart is touched as he reads these postcards.  His compassionate heart gathers them all up and he creates a special  place where “each crayon feels that they belong, feel at peace, and  are finally home. 

It is just an overall amazing unique book.  It is witty and funny and every age level will laugh as they enjoy the brilliant, quirky pictures that work perfectly to bring the text alive.  I highly, highly recommend this book.
