Today's book is about a wish...a wish I am sure everyone can relate to. But the whole premise of the book is - be careful what you wish for because wishes can come true!

About the book...
Gus is seven years old and his family consists of eight brothers and sisters and his household is very chaotic and busy. Oftentimes he gets overlooked, teased and pushed around by his siblings. Even at seven there is only so much one can take right?
One day while on a camping trip with the gang Gus wishes he were an only child so he could get the respect and attention he so craves. Then a very strange thing happens. While out with his siblings he is pushed down in some filthy mud by his older brothers and left there. He is all dirty and gooey and he tries frantically to pick him self up and keep up with the others. Gus is in panic mode because he knows this is the day that they are heading home. No one in the pack turns around and comes back to aid their little brother who is in distress.
His siblings and parents, obviously obsessed with packing up all their camping gear and extraneous paraphernalia, completely forget all about him. The family members clammer into their vehicle and just disappear from sight. Gone.
Poor Gus finds himself now lost in the woods, oozing mud from everywhere possible and worst yet... left behind and all alone. How could they forget to count heads and not realize he is missing? He then realizes that his wish has been granted. He is totally a solo act now and must figure out what to do next.
A strange little girl in a pure white dress appears out of nowhere to guide and help him on an adventure that proves to Gus he is a valued family member and teaches him how family units love and care for every fellow member although that sentiment may not be verbalized out loud and often enough.
Mud on your Face is a fantasy, adventure story for children, taking the reader through an adventure of 'what ifs.' What if you got what you wished for? Would you be happy? There is a morale around being content with what you have, and finding happiness.'
