Unwrapping the Book

"Little Creatures: An Introduction to Classical Music" is a wonderful grouping of classical music featuring insects, frogs, spiders, snakes, wasps and butterflies.  These arbitrary creatures are paired with five centuries of music history.

Ana Gerhard, an accomplished pianist and music educator, includes a glossary of musical terms and a short biography of each composer.  Each book comes with a CD to enjoy (plus a unique code for the digital download) of recordings performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Liverpool Philharomonic, and the Nashville Symphony.  It is an audio treat for listeners of all ages.

Translated from Spanish, kids will be enthralled with the beautiful music and perhaps be inspired to observe and become more aware of the lovely things that nature has to offer.  The illustrations by Mexican illustrator Gómez Morin are whimsical, surreal, and truly magical.  This audio book would be a wonderful addition to a home, a classroom or school library.   I highly recommend it.
