Editorial Review

This book is also a great alternative to a traditional bedtime story and will serve as a nice introduction to getting kids interested in reading comic books. Highly recommended for superheroes young and old!

Unwrapping the Story

Wow!  Nothing is more powerful than a story about unleashing your imagination and having the whole family join in on the adventure and fun.  I love the book!  The comic book characters come alive and the reader is transported into a world of dragon dogs, Teddybeasts, Elf Warriors and Superheroes.

The book begins with a typical day at the Jone's family home with Mom, Dad and twins Joey and Marla doing ordinary everyday things. Dad is working away in his office, Mom is cooking dinner, and the twins are playing separately.  Joey is bored and goes and seeks out Dad and asks him if he would like to play superheroes.  Dad at first declines and then changes his mind.  It's game on for the two.  A similar scenario happens with Mom and Marla.  The family members decide to leave their dull reality and power up into dynamic superheroes conjured up in their imaginations. It's time to play!  Yes!

Dad transforms into BAAAAAD DAAAAD,  Joey into Superpowered Electro Joe, Mom into Elf Queen Mamama and Marla into Marla the Great!  Each one has their own superpowers and epic battles ensue.  The fight of the day is when the Superheroes challenge the Magic Elf Heroes... boys vs girls... Let's rumble!

"And so began the most epic, incredible and unbelievable battle of ALL TIME!"  "CRASH   BOOM   BANG!"

Who won?  Can you guess?   I'm not telling. You must read the book yourself to discover the answer.

Kids will love all the action and the free-spirited characters as they engage with each other in battle.  Their alter-egos and awesome parallel universe that they envision might just inspire you and your family to take some time out of your daily routine and pretend together.  I hope so. Just maybe you can discover what your superpower is and enjoy some  super imaginative timeout with your family!   I highly recommend this book.  It's pure unadulterated fun!

About the Illustrator

My name is Jason Heglund and I’m a native-born Portlander living in Portland, Oregon, which is a fairly rare thing these days. I spend my days designing and illustrating for great people with fun stories to tell.

I've helped bring all sorts of stories to life from simple logo projects, to full brand identity development, design, infographics and even fun children's books.

Whenever I’m not working on projects for other people, I’m following my personal creative drive to bring to life all sorts of ideas ranging from characters, to illustrated scenes, games, and books.

In 2016, I decided to chart my own course and have been working for myself since. I’m currently living in Hillsboro with my wife, 2 daughters and 2 cats.
