Unwrapping Some Wonderful Illustrations for You

The Book

" Why do we cry?' Mario asks his mother.  Thoughtfully his loving mother explains to him some of the reasons why humans cry.  Between the prose and illustrations young children will get an understanding of why tears flow from our eyes.

Tears are a way of expressing our emotions whether they be tears of happiness, painfulness, or great sadness.  The mother tells her son that tears are universal and crying is not a sign of weakness.  Mario's mother finally states, "But more than anything, sweetheart, we cry because we feel like crying."

The author also educates readers at the end of the book by including a segment, "All About Tears" which includes: What are tears?  What kind of tears are there? What are tears made of? Why are tears good for us? What shape are tears? How much does a tear weigh? and Who cries?  Activity suggestions are included also.  I loved the book and thought it was well-written.  It was originally published in Spain.  It would be a wonderful addition to a home library,  a classroom, and/or,  an elementary school library.  I highly recommend it.
