Unwrapping Some Sweet Illustrations for You

The Book

Got a picky eater in your house?  Then this book is for you.   Little Donkey is obsessed with the taste of grass.  It's grass in the morning, grass at noon and grass at night.  Why even his pillow is made of grass.  How convenient is that?  He just rolls over in the morning  and there it is... delicious, juicy, zingy, and crunchy GRASS!  Brilliant!

His mom is always trying to get him to eat other foods but he is adamant saying:

"No, thanks," I say.
A life of eating grass
is jut fine for me."

Gorging himself on grass makes him very thirsty and he needs to drinks lots of water to quench his thirst.  Oh, oh that's when he discovers that he has turned GREEN!  EVERYWHERE! He is very embarrassed and problem-solves to rectify his dilemma.  He rolls in some mud then in some leaves camouflaging his hideous green coat of fur before going back and facing his Mom.

"Little Donkey! You're all GREEN!" says Mom.
"You have finally eaten too much grass."

Donkey changes his mind fast and decides to take his mom's advice because who wants to be permanently green?  He experiments with oranges, watermelon, broccoli, apples, grapes, and finally carrots.  Will picky little Donkey find something that satisfies his customized palate?

The illustrations are wonderful and bring the text to life.  They are colourful, expressive and very kid-friendly.  Anuska has included some tiny mice scattered throughout the story that are fun to spot as you read through.  This sweet little donkey just may encourage your little fussy eater to try some unfamiliar foods.  I love the book and highly recommend it.
