The Book

Noodle Bear wakes up from hibernation in the Spring and discovers that he is addicted to noodles.  He looks all around his cave and sees stacks of empty noodle packages and he foggily remembers binging on his favourite TV game show called Noodle Knockout.  He is obsessed. 

 His friend Fox tries to console him with a bowl of leftover acorns, berries, and fish but all Bear can think about is NOODLES!  He goes on a treasure hunt looking high, low and just about everywhere in between to suppress his cravings!  No luck. 

Bear then makes a decision to head off to the big city and become a  contestant on Noodle Knockout.  If he succeeds he may win a lifetime supply of noodles...heaven here on earth!  Will he succeed in his dream of becoming the most acclaimed noodle eater ever? If fame and fortune abounds will he be happy estranged from his forest friends and be able to ride the wave of success alone without their friendship and company?  

Bear learns a very valuable life lesson:  Noodle - eating celebrity is all very well, but there's no substitute for your friends and your home!  The illustrations are adorable and cartoonish which is understandable because the author/illustrator is an accomplished animator and director at heart.  I love the book and highly recommend it.

Meet the Author/Illustrator

Mark Gravas is an skilled animator and director from Sydney. He is best known as the creator/director of "Yakkity Yak" (2002/2003), an Australian/Canadian co-production. He directed the 2005 animated film "Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie" and he also designed and directed the 2006 Cartoon Network production of "Casper's Scare School". Writing and illustrating children's books has long been a goal of his. His sense of fun is evidenced in his many animated works for children. And as the father of three daughters, he knows what kids enjoy.
