Unwrapping Some Great Illustrations for You
The Book
Louise, who likes to be called Lou, lives with her Mom, Dad, big brother and little sister. She loves to make lists to keep her life organized and on point. She adores her new school and her teacher who is very nice ( and wise ). Her teacher unveils the only rule that is relevant to the class, yes only one:
"Take care of yourself and each other."
Lou can't believe there is only one because at home she has so many rules to follow like: share with your little sister, don't bother your brother, shut the refrigerator, bedtime is quiet time and get ready for school when Mom says. How could there only be one for school?
One day Lou gets to go to work with her Mom when it is take your child to work day. While there she witnesses some tense issues between her Mom and another co-worker. Lou thinks that her simple school rule will make a huge difference if implemented at Mom's office. She shares the rule with her Mom when they arrive home. Will her Mom take her daughter's advice and will the rule, if used, make things at the office run more smoothly and the atmosphere be more happy for all the workers?
The illustrations are wonderful and bring the text to life. The book's theme is about self-care and caring for others. These are very valuable life lessons to learn. I love the book and highly recommend it.
