The Book
Ila and her family move to the country. The move means her parents can have more space and a simpler life and she can have more pets. Hurray!
They discover a two-week-old lamb has been orphaned and needs a forever home. Her parents agree with adopting him and the name Albert is assigned to the little guy.
Albert is so minute that the family decides to place him in a dog crate in the kitchen because he is too little to live outside in the cold barn. Everyone learns how to properly care for Albert and they also find out that he is a little rascal. He is smart and curious and full of life. Good job he is cute! It takes patience and love to train the lamb to assimilate into the home.
I love the artwork. It is bright, colourful and simple which fits the narrative perfectly. Because this tale is actually true the author has included some fun pictures of the real Albert at the end of story for kids to enjoy. I highly recommend this book.

Meet the Author
As a young girl Lori Joy Smith's weekly trips to the children's library with her father sparked her love of reading and children's books. As a teenager she lived in Italy and visited some of the most beautiful museums in Europe, which left her wanting nothing more than to make art. Now she gets to put these two loves together everyday working as an artist and illustrator. She lives in Belfast, PEI with her husband, 2 girls, 3 cats, 2 bunnies, 1 dog, 2 sheep and 3 chickens. She loves making art, walking in the forest, watching the stars, drinking coffee, growing flowers and most of all reading to her own girls every night before they go to sleep.
