The Book 

I love Marianne Dubuc's work,  especially her illustrations.  She loves activity and detail which engage even the youngest reader.  Her style is very much like Richard Scarry's.  

Number 3 Maple Street unveils a cutaway apartment building with anthropomorphized animals highlighted in each compartment.  The story centres around little rabbit's birthday party and the involvement of other tenant's lives such as a Cat family moving in, Mr. Bear not feeling well and laying prostrate on his bed, and the Fox family who are about to celebrate the birth of a brand new baby kit, just to name a few.  

The author has added a few familiar classic fairytale characters to the mix just to excite and grab the attention of the young readers.  So much is happening simultaneously that kids will spend plenty of time looking and conversing about all that is taking place on each and every page.  The book is sure to keep kids and adults entertained and bring them back again and again to discover more of Your House, My House magic.  I highly recommend this book.

Meet the Author/ Illustrator

Marianne was born in Montreal, Quebec. As an only child, she would follow her parents on their outings and keep busy drawing for hours. While growing up, she drew and invented stories for her young cousins.

In 2006, she published her first book, The Sea, after studying graphic design at l'Université du Québec à Montréal. She has since been writing and illustrating children's books with publishers from many countries. Marianne's books include In Front of My House, which was nominated for the 2011 Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award, The Bus Ride, which received the 2015 TD Canadian Children's Literature Award, Mr. Postmouse's Rounds, which won the 2016 Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award for Children's Picture Books and Up the Mountain Path (original French version) which won the 2018 Governor General's Award, the 2018 TD Canadian Children's Literature Award and the 2018 Harry Black Award.

Marianne lives in Montreal, where she shares her time between her work and her family, with great delight.
