The Book

Monster is such a sweet character and not scary at all.  He has an obsession with nature and loves it so much that he tries to capture it in jars so he can always have it close to him.  He makes a plan to collect a pretty flower in spring, fireflies in the summer, a colourful leaf in autumn, and a delicate snowflake in the winter. To his surprise he discovers that these beautiful live specimens disintegrate when bottled up and not left in their natural environment ... a.k.a... nature's homeland.  He comes to the realization that the natural beauty he loves so dearly is best left alone and at his disposal anytime he wants to venture outside and enjoy it.

The illustrations are colourful, simple and kid-friendly.  This book would be a great segue to a discussion about nature's preservation.  I like the book and would definitely recommend it.

Meet the Authors

Regular people, really! The authors write from Toronto, Canada, where they live and enjoy regular people things like walking through nature, ice skating, drinking warm cups of tea and finding fun activities to do with their daughter. And also occasionally writing a book when inspiration hits.
