The Book

I love this book.  It is a celebration of dad and daughter quality time.  A little girl conjures up a plan to get her busy daddy to bed.

"Daddy is a gift from God;
He never takes a break!
Let's show him how to get some rest--
No matter what it takes!

She starts early and puts her plan into action.  She helps him choose his clothes for the day, makes him a kid-fancy meal for breakfast, takes him outside for a walk, helps him with his chores, and paints his toenails pretty pink,  just to name a few.

 She sings him a lullaby and before tucking him in they say a prayer together.  He reminisces to her about their super fun day and she softly kisses him goodnight.

This sweet rhyming book is both heartwarming and humorous.  Kids will love the role-reversal aspect as they love being in charge.

How to Get a Daddy to Sleep from bestselling author Amy Parker is perfect for
  • families with young children who always have energy left over at night
  • preschoolers and elementary-school children who regularly ask for a funny bedtime book
  • reading aloud for a silly and sweet tuck-in story time
  • telling any dad "you’re my hero"
  • helping kids think about all the ways parents care for them

The author includes "A Bedtime Prayer for Daddy and Me" at the end of the book and a deluxe textured spine.  The illustrations are colourful and animated which will delight even the youngest child. This book would make a perfect gift for dad to let him know how much he is cherished.  I highly recommend this book.
