The Book

This fun rhyming-counting book has colourful, kid-friendly illustrations and takes the young reader on an adventure to hunt for a moose!  It's Oscar's first trip with his family and he's very eager to get going.  They pack a picnic basket lunch and grab a camera just in case the mysterious creature may appear.

Oscar is instructed to:  Watch. Listen, Tiptoe. Creep.  One has to be very, very quiet on the trail.  Along the way he discovers pine cones, turtles, busy beavers, and wiggly worms, just to name a few. Embedded in the pictures are the numbers from 10-1 making the book a search-and-find, interactive book.  Kids will have loads of fun locating the numbers and discussing the animals and habitats where the numbers are hidden.  Does Oscar finally spot a beautiful majestic  moose in the wild?   Maybe his mom's photo that she snaps will be proof that the day is a total success.  I highly recommend this book.

Meet the Author

Suzanne Buzby Hersey loves all things Maine, including its state animal—the moose! A New Jersey native, she spent every summer of her childhood in Maine’s beautiful midcoast region. She dreamed of living in Maine year-round and of becoming a children’s book author. Both dreams have since come true. Suzanne’s first book is My Maine. She lives with her husband and two children in Southern Maine, where they can often be found on family hikes, hoping to spot a moose. Find out more information on her website, which is coming soon!
