The Book

This is a book about the celebration of summer fun!  Lily and Milo slip into their bathing suits, pack their beach paraphernalia and off they go to the beach.  On the way there they gather juicy cherries to munch and view some very tall sunflowers.

After they arrive at their destination they of course put on protective sunscreen.  As the day progresses they spot a school of fish and a little crab, build a sandcastle, and gather the prettiest sea shells to take home in their bucket.  They cap off the day by cooling down with their favourite flavour of ice cream.  Yum, then time to depart and go home!

The author ends this sweet story with a surprise which I think all little readers will get a giggle out of.  This is a simple interactive story about summer. It is intended for toddlers ages 24 months and up, with focus on the child's world.   I highly recommend it.

Meet the Author

Pauline Oud, born in 1963 in Hilversum, The Netherlands, has been working as an illustrator for over 15 years now. After her graduation from art school in 1985 she worked as an artist and art teacher for a while before applying her knowledge to her first love; children's books. Before she starts working, she likes to start her days with an hour running to clear her head and think about her drawings. She likes to collect children's books, because they give her so much inspiration. When she isout of inspiration, she also likes to visit the Museum of medieval Art to stare at the books her colleagues have illustrated some 700 years ago. She currently lives in Utrecht (the Netherlands) with her husband and her two children Roos and Walt.
