Happy Right Now is an illustrated picture book that teaches the best way to be happy is to embrace the circumstances we find ourselves in each day. Happy Right Now brings a much-needed message to kids: it’s great to feel happy, but it’s okay to feel sad sometimes too.  Today's book Cranky Right Now let's you know it's okay to cranky sometimes,  everybody does.

The Book

Cranky Right Now is proof positive that we all get testy sometimes.  The thing we have to learn is how to deal with this feeling of overwhelming agitation.  Oftentimes crankiness is brought on by being hungry, being over tired, or if things don't go your way, just to name a few.  This book assesses some causes of irritability, and most importantly, talks about how kids can process and work through these feelings of frustration and just feeling mad at the world.

The award-winning author helps kids recognize this emotion and suggests ways to deal with it head on.  She offers simple ideas to help kids get a grip on their crankiness and to suggests ways to overcome it.  She explains that sometimes it's okay to be cranky and assures the reader that these cantankerous feelings will pass and once again happiness and normalcy will reign.

The playful, witty illustrations are wonderful.  They are colourful, full of action and emotions that kids will relate to.  Every classroom and school library could benefit from this book. I highly recommend this it.
