Praise

"Beautiful illustrations. The story is told in simple language, taking the young reader on a journey with Eve as she tries to come up with a way to show her love for the ducklings. A great way to teach young readers about how to care for and love wildlife responsibly while respecting their boundaries...."

—Emily-Jane Hills Orford, Readers' Favourite

The illustrations of Maria Monte and Emelie Wiklund’s picture book are delightful and serve to expand the text in a way that not too many picture books do. In short, Eve’s Ducklings makes for an inspiring read and one that is clearly worthwhile..."

—Lois Henderson, Readers' Favourite

"A beautiful tale of friendship between animals and children which is bound to become a favorite bedtime story. This short story will give them all the tools to grow a healthy relationship with animals of all types, be they ducks in a pool or somebody else’s pet. I recommend this beautiful tale!"

—Marie-Hélène Fasquel, Readers' Favourite

The Book

Eve and her Grandpa spend quality time together daily as they stroll along the lakefront.  Eve spots a mother duck and her precious ducklings and she tries to befriend the babies.  Mother duck is not amused and chases her away from her brood.  Although disappointed Eve learns to not disturb animals in their natural environment but learns to respect their boundaries.  Will Eve find a quiet, kind, caring way to connect to that duck family and make them her friends?

This charming story has lovely illustrations created with watercolours and ink.  The message of the book inspires young readers to be caring and kind to animals.  I love the intergenerational relationship between grandad and his sweet granddaughter and the wisdom he imparts to her.  I highly recommend this book.

Meet the Author

"Once when I was a child, my Grandpa watched on laughing as Iwas chased off by a mother duck at Albert Park lake after I got too close to a duckling. My debut picture book, which is inspired by that incident, is a heart-warmingread that teaches young children to respect wildlife and the environment.Joyous, colourful illustrations, and playful text will keep children engagedand receptive to the book's message. My hope is that this book inspires many children to be kind to animals.
