Little Faces: Be Careful, Dragon!
Authored by Carly Madden
Illustrated by Hanako Clulow
Unwrapping Some Illustrations for You
This book is a wonderful way to teach kids how to self regulate. Little dragon has a problem with anger and when he gets riled up his solution is to breathe fire into the situation. These strong feelings can actually be harmful to his friends. Those same friends realize the danger and Unicorn steps in and guides Dragon through some deep breathing techniques to calm him down. Through reading and conversing small children can learn to pull back, breathe in deeply and gain control of their emotions once more too.
Kids will see the positive change in Dragon and its consequences to those around him and to himself. Kids will be encouraged to use the same skill in their own lives to help them cope when things get heated up. The kid-friendly illustrations are colourful, engaging and fun due to Venetian paper technology which animates each scene. Kids will love interacting with the story. I highly recommend this book.
