The Book

This heartwarming tale is about a father and daughter spending quality time together building a shed in their back yard.  The purpose of the shed is to store "the necessities of family life" such as bikes, lawnmowers, sleds and sprinklers, just to name a few.  They are a perfect team as dad teaches the practical, hands-on elements of the project while his daughter splashes creativity everywhere making it whimsical, imaginative and fun.

Her dad takes time to include his daughter with the undertaking and in so doing she learns valuable building skills that later she passes on to her own son when they need to repair and give the worn face of the shed a new facelift.

The illustrations are wonderful and full of humour and expression which gives the story a lovely engaging flavour.  I love stories that highlight the importance of strong family bonds that span into the next generation.  I highly recommend this book.
