Unwrapping Some Illustrations for You
The Book
Rocks are everywhere! They are free and readily available. By using your imagination they can be created into many different things. This fascinating story shows that rocks can ROCK!
The award-winning author, Pat Zietlow Miller, suggests many ways you can engage with them. You can skip, sort, kick, drop, and change them into bridges, jewellery or mosaics just to name a few. But the best thing of all? You can share them with others.
"Choose your friend carefully. People are like rocks. Some sparkle right away, while others seem ordinary at first, but have treasure deep inside. "
The author takes something so readily available and simple and sparks kid's curiosities. She inspires them to focus on creative play and having fun with rocks.
"Don't miss their magic. Don't walk by with your head in the air and your hands in your pockets."
The illustrations are wonderful and enrich the text greatly. They are full of detail and invite you into the story. I love the book and encourage kids to... ROCK ON!

Meet the Author
Pat Zietlow Miller knew she wanted to be a writer ever since her seventh-grade English teacher read her paper about square-dancing skirts out loud in class and said: "This is the first time anything a student has written has given me chills." (Thanks, Mrs. Mueller! You rock!)
Pat started out as a newspaper reporter and wrote about everything from dartball and deer-hunting to diets and decoupage. Then, she joined an insurance company and edited its newsletter and magazine.
Pat has one wonderful husband, two delightful daughters and two pampered cats. She doesn't watch much TV, but she does love "Chopped." Pat lives in Madison, Wisconsin.
You can follow Pat on Twitter (@PatZMiller). You can also visit her website at http://www.patzietlowmiller.com or stop by www.picturebookbuilders.com, a blog she's part of.

I put hours of work finding the best kid's books to review for you each day. If you enjoy visiting Storywraps and would like to donate something for my time and effort I would greatly appreciate it.
Go to the top of my blog at the right hand corner (below my photo) and please donate what you feel lead to give. The amount you donate and the frequency you donate is totally up to you.
I also have added a new button... ko-fi.com/storywraps Simply buy me a cup of coffee if you would rather. That would be fun. Coffee and blogging go together like two peas in a pod as I'm always brewing up something here on Storywraps.
