"This story touches onthe reality of how people and nature often come into conflict, especially wherenatural resources are in the balance.
When man and nature come into conflict, itis often nature that suffers, though it doesn't always need to be that way.
This story shows that, given some forethought and patience, there are otheralternatives that can bring about the desired outcome.
Yara and theYellow-Headed Parrots by Yossi Lapid is a brilliant story about a girl and afather who come together to solve a life problem and go away with a positiveresult.
This book is a clear winner and highly recommended"

"Yossi Lapid brings another exceptional children's book to the top of ourfamily's bedtime rotation...
Joanna Pasek breatheslife into Lapid's words with fluid artwork that practically sings from thepage. Full color and a full spread of stylized illustrations bring a lushnessto each and every scene.
We are wholly besotted by Yara and the perfect pairingof Lapid and Pasek and look forward once more to what they deliver next.

"Told in rhyming verse and withbeautiful, boldly colorful illustrations, the plot follows Yara's fascinationwith the newly born chicks high in the nest and her concern for their safety, especially when she catches a poacher intent on capturing the chicks for theopen market.
This simple story has apowerful message, not just about the yellow-headed parrots, but about thenatural world around us and how we must think carefully before we act, or elseeverything that makes this world beautiful will be gone forever."

"As an animal lover and veterinary nurse, I trulyloved the strong message in the pages of Yossi Lapid's story.
With somany animals around the world fast becoming endangered or extinct due to humaninteractions, the importance of getting such an important message across toreaders, especially when they are young, is priceless.
I willtreasure Yara and the Yellow-Headed Parrots and wholeheartedly recommend it toall readers, both young and old."

"This book teaches youngchildren that they can do something to stop the trade of protected animals.
Children can help turn the tide on the misuse of animals and teach adults theimportance of protecting the environment in which the animals need to live.
Thetheme of rescuing and re-educating a poacher is a fantastic idea.
The artwork by Joanna Pasekis excellent.
Yossi has authored a masterful book for children."

The Book
This educational and engaging tale is written in perfect rhyme. It is a great tool to use to inform kids about caring for and protecting the birds of the rainforest.
Two yellow - headed parrots dote over the arrival of their two little hatchlings. They are so happy that their nest is perched high up in a tree safe from any danger... or so they assume.
One day a man sneaks into their terrority, spots the babies, and decides to steal them to get money for medicine for his ailing son. Yara is observing his every move and intervenes. She explains to him that what he is doing is wrong and how the parrots need to be free and protected as many species in the Rainforest are becoming extinct. She offers him an alternate to save his son's life, one that saved hers. Will the despondent man listen and take her advice? Will his little one be saved and the parrots also?
The rhyming flows beautifully, the illustrations are simply gorgeous and the message is inspiring, positive and educational. This would be not only a great addition to any classroom but definitely to the elementary school library. The book is the third book of the award-winning "Yara Rainforest" series. It's a winner and I highly recommend it and all of Yossi Lapid books.

About the Illustrator
I'm a freelance illustrator from Poland. My work is based on traditional techniques; watercolor, crayons, ink. My passion is drawing for children. My childhood was all about crayons and books, then I was doing other things for a time – studying, working for a publishing house, taking care of my sons… and then my boys grew up and I discovered I had some free time again. So I returned to crayons and paints. This second beginning happened when I was nearly 40, but there was no particular event to trigger it.
