The Book

This energetic delightful book is a dual-language book that kids will not only have fun reading but be educated as well.  It is a celebration of community told in both Spanish and English.

The tour of this community introduces a diverse group of people who help keep the community running smoothly and are interconnected for the good of all the people who live there.  This community tour will highlight those people who help others stay safe, learn, and thus live happily.

The busy colourful illustrations enrich the narrative and the book includes a glossary of community helpers and the important roles that they serve in.  Another fun feature is a QR code at the back of the book that unlocks exclusive songs that kids can scan and enjoy!  I highly recommend this book.

Meet the Author

123 Andrés is the husband-wife team of Andrés and Christina. They are Latin Grammy-winning musicians, and teaching artists creating books, music, media and live shows in Spanish and English for children and families. Their songs and videos are used in early childhood and elementary classrooms across the US and abroad, and they have delighted live audiences in the US, Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico and Colombia, at venues including Lollapalooza (Chicago), the Kennedy Center (Washington DC), Symphony Space (NYC), the Coliseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and many others.

Andrés grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, and learned how to play the guitar from his father as a child. He studied clarinet at the Conservatory and had his first studio experience at age eight. He went on to earn a Doctorate in music and win first prize in the National Composition Contest in Colombia for one of his early songs.

Christina was raised in the US, in a Spanish-speaking family hailing from Colombia, and studied theater and dance as a child. After serving as a classroom teacher in public schools and earning a Masters in Education from Penn, she found her mission teaching through music.

123 Andrés maintains an active calendar of live concerts, joy-filled shows for student and family audiences, that get everyone singing, moving and learning. Learn more at 123andres.com.
