The Book

The is such a fun, clever book with the sweetest protagonist ever... a clump of lint!  It is written in early graphic style by debut author-illustrator Mike Shiell.  It is full of imagination and humour.  It is a perfect novel to encourage emerging or reluctant readers to pick up, read, and enjoy!

Linty lives alone snuggled in the front pocket of a faded pair of blue jeans which is located in a dresser drawer.  He is very content to fill his day with cardio which gets his heart pumping, sightseeing his denim world, standing or sitting on his head, then playing Marco Polo solo which means he always wins.

Then one day his whole world is turned upside down.  It starts to shake and bounce as a diverse gang of visitors invades his privacy. What's going on and how did these things get into his pocket?

At first Linty feels overwhelmed with the uninvited invasion but when he gives it some consideration he concludes that these changes are fun and full of adventure, the likes as he never dreamed could happen.  Will Linty continue to embrace his new found exciting life or will he long to go back to living solo?

The illustrations are colourful, detailed, animated and full of hysterical dialogue, asides and antics from cover to cover.  The book highlights bravery, acceptance, and friendship. The novel's concept is unique and kid's will fall in love with this fluffy little guy.  This book would be great in a classroom and in an elementary school library.  It would make a fun series for kid's to enjoy.  I highly recommend it.
