The Book

I had the privilege of reviewing the author's amazing first book, "Unraveling Rose" and now am delighted to do the same for his new book, "Traveling Rose."

Rose, an adorable stuffed bunny, has the opportunity to take her very first trip to London England with her new friend Iris and her beloved little boy owner.  Iris, a spunky rhino, maybe small in stature but has lots of BIG energy as she charges through life full of curiosity and awe of her participation and discoveries.

Rose daydreams about the delicious teas the group will share while abroad and the magical vacation that awaits her.

On the way to the airport Iris immediately begins to soak in all the new things to see while Rose sits quietly, very close to the boy.  In her quiet state worry begins to creep into her mind and heart.

Did she pack her sweater? What if it's cold in London?  What if she can't sleep... after all it's a long trip? Did she turn off the lamp beside her bed?

Her worries grow bigger and bigger and Rose becomes so overwhelmed that she starts to sob and wants to go home.  The "what ifs" consume her and won't allow her to relax and enjoy the new adventure before her.  Is there a way that Rose can find solace and let her worries go so she can relax and have fun on her trip?

This is a wonderful book that will spark meaningful conversations and offer solutions to worried children experiencing OCD.  The book refers to OCD in a gentle way that kids can easily understand.  The illustrations are charming and beautiful.  I love them.

"Traveling Rose" is ideal for social and emotional learning and teaches kids to express emotion, which is one of the key ingredients to healthful development.  This fantastic book checks all the boxes to label it a winner and I highly recommend it.
