About the book...

A tiny Maltese puppy quivers and shakes around people and other dogs she does not know.  One day her life changes forever.  Lisa and her husband Don pay her a visit and instantly love is in the air from both parties.  The adorable puppy is adopted and given the name BabyDoll because that's just what she is.  She is the centre of attention, eating people food, taken on vacations to Paris and even has a line of doggie designer fashion that Don creates and names after her.  What a lucky pup!  She lives a fairy tale life and is treated as a princess every single day.  She gets a lovely surprise at the end of the story and I'm sure with her temperament she will adjust just fine. There's always room in your heart for more love once your own heart has been filled.

The illustrations are expressive and detailed.  BabyDoll is such an endearing little character that you fall in love with her immediately.  The story teaches the importance of giving a doggie (and other animals) a forever home.  It teaches children compassion and how to lovingly foster a new member of the family into the fold.  I highly recommend this book.

Storywraps rating:  5 HUGS!!!!!

About the author...

Lisa graduated from the University of Texas and St. Edwards University, and then studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in Paris, France.

After her time in Europe, she came back home to work with fashion icon, Gianni Versace. Lisa met her husband, Donald J. Pliner, in 1997 and became his muse, collaborating on many shoe designs for over the next fifteen years. In 2003 Lisa received BabyDoll as a gift from her husband, and during the next eleven years, she gave BabyDoll a life that many could only wish for, filled with tons of love.
BabyDoll even had her very own fashion line, “Friends of BabyDoll Pliner,” which consisted of leashes, carriers, and leather wear for four-legged friends. Lisa cofounded Peace for the Children Foundation, which has provided charitable grants supporting not-for-profit organizations for the past decade. Lisa believes that “if a child could have one day to play like anyone else, children can learn to communicate and play together, no matter their religion or race. It can bring peace.”
Lisa Barbernell-Pliner is a loving wife and mother, successful shoe designer, accomplished philanthropist, and painter. She currently resides in Bel Air, California with her husband Donald, daughter Starr Emmanuelle, and her little ones, Sunset and Moonlite.

Just for fun...

I would like you to meet my Maltese baby.  This is Abby Rose and she is 4 years old.  She is my baby and sticks to me like velcro.  I call her my little white shadow.  She is a sister to Eden ( a sweet dachshund ) and Moses (a follow-the-rules Pomeranian).  They all are very spoiled and think they are people and make my heart smile every single day.
