This is an innovative new children's book that tackles common family issues and allows everyone to see themselves reflected back from its pages.  This is the first book in the series and is carefully constructed with intentionally blank cut paper illustrations that invite children to project themselves onto the characters and into the  story. Regardless of who they are, children will see themselves reflected back in these adorable characters.

About the book

"Sean Awesome!  You are a big boy now.  You have to start sleeping in your own room," said Mommy.  But Sean didn't want to sleep in his room.  He was scared to sleep all by himself."

Sound familiar?  Sean Awesome has a very active imagination that kicks in when his light goes out so he wants to seek sanctuary in the comfort and safety of his Mommy and Daddy's bed where it is not scary at all.  His mission?  To get to their bed without being discovered.  He tries different battle techniques that just might work:  hiding under a giant tablecloth, wearing his Hallowe'en dinosaur costume and disguising himself as an undercover agent. No..... busted!

Then he dons his superhero duds and does a check: his radar wristband will check if Mommy is asleep, his golden belt will light up the darkness, with his blue cape he can fly quietly through the hallway and finally, his red mask will make him strong and invincible.  Will it work?  This time success!  Hurray!

With his confidence built up that yes indeed he can manage to sleep the whole night through alone in his room he assigns himself the ultimate mission.  Can he actually do it?

"...5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... Sean blasts off into his dreams."  Can you guess how he successfully completes his mission?

This delightful book has adorable cut-paper illustrations that highlight the text perfectly.  This picture book, the first in a new series, is full of imagination and creativity.  To find out how some of the illustrations were crafted go to "seanawesome.com" and take a peek. They are very time-consuming and very unique.

"What is most striking about this book is the simplicity of the cut paper illustrations that are designed to allow child readers to quietly project their own identities, emotions, and experiences onto the characters.  This allows for validation of kids' own feelings, as well as the opportunity for discussions with parents about tough topics. The images are also extremely appealing, as Ms. Yellow and Mr. Wide push the cuteness to the extreme and create characters, objects, and visuals that readers will want to reach in and play with."  I highly recommend this book.

 In their own words

"We want to create a bonding moment between parents and children," says Ms. Yellow. "Children love to hear their parent's childhood stories and parents love sharing with their kids.  We hope our readers will connect with one another through Sean Awesome's family and their stories that we can all relate too."
