From the author
Dear Parents,
I have a confession to make. The Tooth Fairy did not always come to our house when she was supposed to. And since I'm coming clean on this, I must admit, there were a couple times when she didn't come for two nights in a row! Ugh.
Blame it on exhaustion, forgetfulness or the economy, when the Tooth Fairy doesn't show up it doesn't feel good, especially when your kid is not handling the disappointment well. After all, who convinced them that there is this mystical, magical creature who wants their tooth in exchange for money? We the parents did, and then she fails to deliver? Double ugh!
That is why I wrote this book. To alleviate a child's disappointment and any guilt a parent may feel. It will make your kids laugh, teach them forgiveness and tolerance, and they'll not only learn why the Tooth Fairy didn't come, they'll get to see how much she loves and cherishes them and their teeth, even when she can't make it to their house.
Unwrapping some fantastic illustrations for you to enjoy
I spoke to the author yesterday and she told me that her book "Tooth Fairy, You Have Some Explaining To Do" is currently #1 in new releases on Amazon. How awesome is that? I'm not surprise as it is a delightful book with illustrations that are full of expression and detail. The main character is gender fluid and named Child. The reader can decide which gender they prefer. I am choosing female for my review because a long time ago I once was that little girl and I know exactly how she feels.
A little girl hides her tooth under her pillow and can't wait until morning to see what monetary reward the Tooth Fairy will bring to her. Alas, when she overturns her pillow the next morning to check for her money prize... her tooth is still there! Oh my! What's up with that? Did the Tooth Fairy forget to come? Did she run out of money? Is this a mean joke? Well, it isn't funny at all. The Tooth Fairy had better have a good explanation as to why she didn't do her job last night. She's got a whole lot of explaining to do because this disappointed little girl needs to know what happened. Will Child get the answers she is seeking and ultimately forgive the Tooth Fairy for her no show? The author has included discussion questions for parents and teachers that are fun to explore together. I highly recommend this book.

Question #2 from the author's "Discussion Questions for Parents and Teachers"
* Has the Tooth Fairy ever not come to your house? If so were you as upset as the child was? Why did you think she did not come? Did you forgive her?
I too have been disappointed with only a fly over and not a stop over by the Tooth Fairy. I think maybe she had a surrogate.
I was probably about 5 or 6 years old at the time. When I woke up in the morning I found that my tooth was still under my pillow (with no money in sight) after a restless night's sleep. When I expressed my frustration to my mom she told me not to despair but to search around the house because perhaps the Tooth Fairy had left me a gift somewhere else. Well I did finally discover the location of her deposit. Under the cloth embroidered runner on top of our television set was a huge, green, empty Gingerale bottle that she allegedly had left for me. The monetary value of her gift?... a mere 5 cents. Ugh! Was I disappointed? Yep. Sad? Yep. A little angry? You bet. Did I forgive her? Yes after 30 years because after all, it really is the thought that counts right? That's what my therapist told me and it's true I guess. π Lol! Just teasing......
