The Book

This delightful children's book will resonate with both young and old. Sasha Patience Pruitt is a little girl who loves to multi-task and goes a hundred miles an hour doing so demonstrating again and again she has very little patience.

One day she encounters Mr. Sloth who has dropped out of a tree onto the roof of her tree house and a friendship is formed between the two.  She learns that Mr. Sloth is the complete opposite of her and he lives his life at a snail's pace, stopping along his journey to quietly focus and enjoy the world around him.  Sasha learns a very valuable life lesson from her new friend ... it's okay to slow down your speedy pace and not always be in such a hurry.  Without being critical or judgemental the message of the book points out that it is fine to be both fast and slow.

The illustrations are gorgeous, full of detail and activity which enrich the meaning of the story greatly.  I really love them.  The book teaches readers to focus on the present moment, to stop and relax, to concentrate on your breathing and to use your senses to engage in the world around you.  "Mindful Mr. Sloth" is an excellent book that I highly recommend.
