The Book

An adorable little boy begs his mother to get a dog.  His mother refuses to grant his wish saying that dogs are a big responsibility and too much work.  He feels sad but doesn't give up his dream.

One day on a rainy afternoon there is a yowling at the door and a very wet drenched cat is the source. They bring the cat inside and feed it and give it shelter.  The next day they make posters and hang them up throughout their neighbourhood.  Unfortunately no one comes to claim their lost feline and the cat now lives at their house.  OH NO!  He didn't want a cat... he wanted a dog!

Surrending to the inevitable, that the cat now resides in her forever home, the boy tries to make the best of his new adopted pet.  He names the cat Doggie and pretends she's a dog.  Do you think the cat can live up to her name and make the little guy happy and accept her as a friend?  In return can the boy learn to love and be happy with Doggie, the cat?

The heartwarming illustrations are wonderful, full of action, colour and feelings.  This is a charming story about embracing disappointment and accepting and loving Doggie just as she is.  The book teaches about doing the right thing by trying to locate the cat's owner and the responsibility and happiness of owning a cat.  I highly recommend this book.
