The Book

An adorable little character named Percy finds himself in his new kindergarten room surrounded by kids he doesn't know which makes him feel alone and frightened.  He looks around and encounters a soft plush kitty that he names Miss Petticomb.  She makes him feel comfortable, safe and calm.  He happily plays with her all morning.

The other kids around him in class organize a tea party and come and snatch Miss Petticomb from Percy wanting her to come to their party.  Percy goes searching for his new friend and finds her being held captive at the party.  He reaches to take her back but the other kids want to have her too, after all the party they are preparing is a birthday for Miss Petticomb. Will Percy give up his new friend to the others or will he decide to keep her all to himself? If he concedes his beloved stuffie to the others will he perhaps get an invitation to the tea party too?

Having been a kindergarten teacher myself I can attest to the fact how toys in play help children practice social skills, language skills, imagination, and their ability to bring children together.  It's a wonder to behold when kids get lost in their imaginative play and everyone is accepted and valued as a member of the group.

The illustrations are amazing... kid-friendly and relatable.  I love the book and highly recommend it.
