Read alouds are wonderful!

If you are so crazy busy that you cannot avail yourself to read aloud to your child or have your child read to you here is a little tip that may be invaluable to you. Do you have a dog in your home? Let your child read to their furry friends until you can untangle your life and be available to do the honours. Dogs are fantastic...they are friendly, do not judge errors, give wet, sticky kisses, love the attention and will give undivided love and adoration to the little reader. Actually there are programmes in place where dogs are trained to do just that. Dogs and their trainers go into schools and nursing homes and become reading companions. Try it. It is just another way for your child to practice their reading skills before a non-judgmental friend who will wag their tails for just one more story please!
