Memories.....Remember when....
Have a "memory chat" with your kids today. Summer is here, the weather heating up, and no school! You have the time to spend together spinning stories of your childhood. In the next few days make a point of sitting down and sharing your summer childhood with your kids. Tell them about your report cards, (show them if you have kept them), where your parents took you for vacation times, what your family packed when you went hiking or on a picnic, and bring out old photo albums to browse through and discuss together. Think back to your favourite flavour of ice cream and who your best friends were. You can also make a list of the 10 most popular games that you played as a kid and then teach those games to your children. Have fun, relax, converse together, make this a teachable family history time and enjoy some quality time all around the theme of summer. Be sure to include some of those classic books you had time to read while you were lazing in the back yard. If you loved "Nancy Drew" or the "Hardy Boys" or "Little House on the Prairie" or "Anne of Green Gables", be sure to access a few copies to pass on the next generation. Enjoy and read on.
