Grab a book, find a quiet spot, curl up and read. Once a month have a reading weekend that is family friendly. Gather books, magazines, newspapers, articles (some on computer), text each other, scatter post-it notes around and just immerse yourself in word activities. Share what you are reading with each other. Make a point to read out loud to each other. Play a reading game or see how many reading games you can create using words. Pull out the Scrabble for Junior game and challenge each other. Enjoy every aspect of the written word together as a family. Have your kids read their books aloud to pets or to grandma/grandpa on the phone or by Skype, webcam or FaceTime. Engage and enjoy intended reading time together this weekend.
