A Ball for Daisy - book review

This book is wonderful.  It won the 2012 Caldecott Medal because of its outstanding illustrations.    This book is recommended for ages 3 and up.   Title: A Ball for Daisy   Author: Chris Raschka

About the story:

Daisy, a beautiful little dog, has a great life and is in love with a big red ball.  She loves to play chase, cuddle on the couch, take long walks in the park and in general is very, very happy.  Then one day tragedy strikes.  While in the park a strange dog bursts her ball and she is devastated.

The author tells the story completely by pictures and they are exquisite.  Raschka's watercolour illustrations are playful, fun and so very expressive making the book easy to share indeed.  The best part is that your child can tell you the story by following along with the pictures.  He/she can trace what Daisy is doing and especially how she is feeling.

The surprise ending will delight your child and who doesn't love a happy ending?  This story is well worth reading and telling over again and again.

Read on.  Happy weekend to everyone.
