I believe....

Quote of the Day:  "Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!  What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.  What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more."
~Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Today's featured book:

Title:  A Christmas Holiday With the Clauses
Author:  Cheryl Kelley
Illustrator:  Laura Mixon

This fun little book is a modern day take on a holiday fantasy adventure.  The author has taken a beloved character, namely Santa Claus, and up-dated him to bring him into the 21st century.  Santa calls on his cell phone, (probably an iPhone), receives gift requests from text messages from kids   around the world, and Mrs. Claus zooms all over the place in her shiny, red Audi.  Now how's that for fun?

Kris Snow, the main character is a believer.  He totally swears that Santa is real (even though he is not allowed to swear), that Santa's reindeer exist, and that Santa lives in the infamous North Pole.  His dad, a pilot, thinks it is all a myth and invites his son for a little plane trip up to the icy, freezing Arctic zone to prove his point.  He tells his son that all they will find there is a barren, frozen...nothingness.  Kris takes on the challenge of the trip but first he crafts a letter to Santa and tips him off that they will be arriving at his homestead on Christmas, so please look out for their plane.  Santa, as every good husband does, passes the note to his wife, Mrs. Claus who starts making the preparations for their arrival.  Santa and his gang welcome their new guests with old fashioned Christmas hospitality which makes a true believer out of the once skeptical and incredulous, Mr. Snow.  Why Kris and his dad even get to meet the the notorious eight reindeer.  Fond memories are created and with a thankful heart for the awesome experience Kris and his dad return home vowing to return again next Christmas if they are able.  It is great book, with a great message and I recommend it to my readers.
