Unwrapping some illustrations...

The illustrations are so expressive, detailed and fun I couldn't pick which ones to show you....so I just kept on choosing.  I like this one, and this one, and ohhh look at that one!!!  :-)

Love the colour pallet.  It oozes frivolity and happiness doesn't it?

About the book...

What is normal?  That is the quest that a young scientist, a Latina girl in black Mary Jane's and a stylish bob, must find out.  Her subject is a huge purple orangutan named Norman and he is definitely not what one would classify as "normal."  I suspect his colour might have been a red flag for her what do you think?

You see Norman speaks fluent English, he sleeps in a bunk bed (top bunk of course), he adores his stuffed anteater toy not to mention his adoration and uncanny love for pizza.  Oh yes, he even has a passion for deep-sea diving. Wow, now how is that for abnormal orangutan behaviour?

After observing, recording and even joining in some unnatural orangutan and friend's antics both she and the head scientist, who is the overseerer of the project, conclude that it is totally, completely and unequivocally impossible to define the term "normal."  Case closed.

This delightful tale will have you breathing a sigh of relief because you see?  Everyone is "normal" in his or her way.  Hurray I cheer... I'm "normal" and that is very, very good news. The illustrations will have you smiling and the the age level although targeted for 4+ can stretch right into middle school and beyond.  I highly recommend this book.
