Praise reports...

“Best-selling Japanese artist Miyanishi’s . . . bold, woodcutlike spreads draw immediate attention. Strong black lines sizzle and swoop against the yellow and vermilion of his prehistoric landscape, which is studded with volcanoes and boulders. . . . Miyanishi’s writing tugs at the heartstrings.”—Publishers Weekly

“A beautiful and unforgettable tale that touches the heart.” —SLJ

"The bright, stylized illustrations that accompany the text are both poignant and powerful, supporting the story and engaging young audiences from the first page to the last." —Foreword Reviews

About the book...

A huge Tyrannosaurus Rex dominates his world as he stomps and storms around using intimidating tactics to scare and destroy anyone in his path. He is the meanest and most powerful force to be reckoned with that can be found.  He takes great pride and glee in his bullying ways.  Alas, as time passes his power begins to fade because he is getting older and thus much, much weaker.

An insulting Masiakasaurus challenges him and gives him a good hard chomp on the tail.  Tyrannosaurus, wounded and weary, escapes and lays down exhausted and falls sound asleep.

A baby Triceratops stumbles upon him and leads him into the forest to introduce him to his friends. They have never seen a Tyrannosuarus before so they are intrigued by his humungous size and his crusty demeanour.   It is then that his swollen sore tail is discovered by the Triceratop clan and together they go about caring for and trying to cure his painful wound. Tyrannosaurus is deeply touched by their selfless act of kindness towards him.  He has never experienced such a wonderful feeling deep inside his heart before.

Tyrannosaurus is completely humbled and grateful. He begins to change his feelings of mass destruction towards all creatures from that time forward.  His emotions turn into ones of caring, nurturing and protecting those much smaller creatures that are so considerate towards him.

Two mammoth Giganotosaurus attack and Tyrannosaurus shelters  the Triceratops children with his sore, decrepit body.  He positions himself to become a sacrifice if need be, so the youngsters can be protected and kept safe at all cost.

"I Want That Love" proclaims the message that love is much more powerful than strength.  This heartwarming story brings readers to the realization that love conquers all and is the ultimate weapon as good always overcomes evil.

This is the third book in the series in Tatsuya Miyanishi's Thyrannosaurus series of 13 titles that have sold more than 3 million copies in Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan and France.  “The theme of the Tyrannosaurus series is love. There aren’t as many important things for us as to more often say such beautiful words as ‘I love you.’ The love I write about is something very natural. Here, it’s all about showing that love is far more important that power. I hope you agree!” —Tatsuya Miyanishi
