About the book
About the book
Poor Zaza. She wants to play with her stuffed animal friends but discovers they are all sick. Oh my! Whatever shall she do? Clever little Zara knows exactly what to do. She gets on her doctor's uniform and starts individual checkups to see what is causing this unwelcome epidemic.
She detects that Rosie has an earache, Bobby needs his heart monitored, George Giraffe has a very itchy sore throat, Pinkie feels overly warm but once her temperature is checked seems fine, and Mo has a scratch on his head which is easily mended by applying a bandage. Whew! Everyone is lovingly taken care of but wait? The adorable recovered animals all want a bandage just like Mo's. Sweet Zaza is happy to comply making everyone happy. She wraps up her doctor's round by adding one more thing... can you guess what that might be?
The illustrations are bright, vibrant and draws the reader into each scenario. The text is simple enough for an emergent reader to tackle no problem. The book depicts different medical instruments and techniques used by a real medical doctor and would be wonderful to share with a child if a doctor's visit is on the horizon with a discussion to follow. I loved the fact that the little girl is one of colour and empowered to problem solve and heal all her favourite animal friends.
