About the book

Kids will light up as they create their personalized monsters that:  "motor, inflate, wobble, drool, soar and can even do push-ups!"

Be prepared to be amazed as these monsters come to life with step-by-step instructions and basic tools that will be needed to complete the 21 awesome projects.

Two adorable little monsters narrate and explain what STEAM means.

"It stands for: Science Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. It's all about making stuff and figuring out how what we create relates to other things in the world.  When you wire up the Wobbling Wandersnatch, send a High-Flying Heliflopper skyward, or add fashionable buttons to Fortoona the Truthteller that's STEAM!"

The duo encourage you to use the things you have, decorate your own way and experiment to customize your creation the way you would like it to be.  Imagination and humour make this book a winner.  Come on everyone join in.  I promise that you will have a monstrously great time.   I highly recommend "Marvelous Makeable Monsters."

Meet the author

Sam Haynor loves things that go whoosh, ping, doink, and bonk! Sam has below-average color coordination skills but an above-average love of pompoms. He graduated from some places and worked at others, and has been greatly inspired by his students and their incredible imaginations that never seem to stop inventing. While teaching, he became hooked on the idea that change in one’s life can come from making things that are personally meaningful—or even making things from trash. He really likes trash. Come find him at the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco, where he works as an Exhibit Developer. He’ll probably try to convince you to help him build something. Marvelous Makeable Monsters will spur afternoons, weekends, months, and years of scientific exploration.
