Unwrapping the Story

This charming book, written in rhyme, encourages kids to go outdoors and soak in the wonder and beauty of nature that is all around them.

An adorable little squirrel who is busy climbing trees, collecting acorns, watching buzzing bees and playing hide-and-seek always takes time out to observe the kids that live in his front yard.  It's his most favourite thing to do.  He witnesses all their outdoor activities : playing in the sandbox, swinging on their swing, throwing balls and flying their kites,  just to name a few.

He then shares a secret.  As he watches the kids play his heart fills with so much happiness that he bursts out in a song.  He chatters a melody that is cheerful and oh so beautiful.  As he sings his love song his backyard friends are so moved that they all come together and join in creating a performance that is fit for the ears of royalty.

"My song is a backyard symphony.  A true musical show.
All in honour of you.  Oh, how I love to see you play and watch you grow."

The illustrations are bright, bold and carry the message flawlessly.  The squirrel is the conductor that orchestrates a celebration of life.  I highly recommend this book.
