The Book

This is a sweet picture book about a fluffle of rabbits busily working away in their hidden warren.  They are eagerly waiting until dark to set their plan in motion.  When the sun has set, five little rabbits, each donning a backpack, hop out of their burrow and disappear into the darkness.  What can they be up to?  Inside each backpack is something round, bright, and beautiful.  Whatever can they be?

Back inside the underground workshop other rabbits are busily preparing invitations to hand out to friends.  They want everyone to come join in a happy celebration they are preparing.  These guests include: feathered friends, the mouse family, and even foxy fox.  All the animals happily accept their invitations and are eager to witness something very special that will take place as the full moon shines brightly in the sky.  The reader is invited to join the animals too.  Will you attend?

The author/ illustrator has done a masterful job of creating suspense and a sense of wonderment as she unveils a fun event where everyone can gather together.  The illustrations in "Full Moon" are simple and the text is brief which leaves lots of room for speculation, discussion and ideas to flow as the story is being shared.   I especially love the fact that all the animals are invited ... even the fox.  I highly recommend this book.
