The Book

Esther Eagle is a young eaglet that wants to soar through the sky uninhibited.  She dreams of a time when she will be free to do so.  Unfortunately she is fenced inside her habitat and her dream cannot be fulfilled.

Her mother has no patience with her and tells her to be still, preen, and look pretty. Esther is bored with her life, dislikes that people laugh at her, and finds that nobody understands how much she wants to break away and soar except.... her loving father. He works with the Zoo staff  and together they create a way for Esther's dream to come true.

This book is inspiring and its positive message encourages kids not to give up but believe that their dreams actually can come true.  The book highlights Esther's bravery and finally, at long last, her self-confidence!  The illustrations are colourful and expressive.  I only gave four hugs because the author doesn't follow through and let the reader know how her Dad achieved Esther's ability to soar.  I think that would have been a perfect ending.

Meet the Author

Born in California, raised in Minnesota, and Texas, I grew up with a love for reading and writing. My mother always had a book in her hand or nearby.

Presently, I'm completing the third book in my young adult superhero trilogy, The Gifted Ones, adding a new festival to my Texas Festivals Series, writing the third book in the Adventures of Runt and Arnold, and planning a new zoo visit for the second book in my Zoo Me In picture book series.
