Unwrapping Some Illustrations

The Book

"This giraffe needs spots! The pizza needs toppings! It’s a snip and glue activity book perfect for little hands just learning to use scissors and glue. Grab scissors, cut on the dotted lines, paste or glue on the bite-size cut-outs, and voilΓ !"

" Paper Stories: A Snip and Glue Activity Book" is a creative, bright activity book for kids who are learning to use scissors and want more practice exercising that skill.

Each spread includes an incomplete kid-friendly scene plus a strip of spot illustrations and shapes marked with dotted lines for cutting to complete the scene.  Kids can cut along the dotted lines and paste the cutouts wherever they fancy.  How fun is that?  They also can cut more precisely to the images if they so desire.  Either way, a masterpiece is born!

This activity book will help kids develop fine motor skills and inspire kids to create art from what they have on hand.

I love the vibrant colours and the innovative way to develop manual dexterity (the coordination of small muscles in movement with eyes, hands and fingers).  I love the whole concept and highly, highly recommend this educational and fun book.

Meet the Author/Illustrator

Aya Watanabe is a Japanese illustrator who loves to explore imaginary worlds and to express her inner child through art.
She’s a traveler and has lived in Thailand and Australia, where the sun makes everything bright and colorful, much like her art. Creating fun contents for kids is her passion. After working in advertising for many years, she started freelancing as an illustrator. Her works range from picture books to editorial, book covers, stationery, advertisements and was selected for Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition in 2017. She uses a combination of traditional media, such as acrylic, colored pencils, crayons, and digital techniques. She is also a devoted gardener, a wannabe entomologist, a compulsive tropical beach-goer, an avid sushi lover, and is currently living and working in Japan with her pet caterpillars. When she is not working, she is probably cooking Thai/Japanese food, watering her bonsai, or traveling with her sketchbook!
