Stack a story
Have your child and you make up a story. Make it sad, funny, adventurous...whatever...it is your own personal story. Then take some blank cards and write key words on them from your story. Have some words describe setting, characters in story (by name, personality, physical looks), a bit about the plot, words to describe ending. Go over words together and fill in the sentences as you put words down. You will be reinforcing word recognition, sequencing, recollection and memory. Afterwards give your child a big piece of paper with crayons or markers and have him/her illustrate your own story. When daddy comes home or grandma comes over for a visit have your child re-tell the story complete with the illustrations. What a fun activity for the whole family to get involved in. Read on!
