Groundhog Day’s coming
Valentine’s Day too!
Covering both of these holidays and celebrations in my reviews this month. Groundhog Day comes first on the calendar before Valentine’s Day so let’s start at the very beginning......
Title: Groundhog Day of Facts and Fun
Author: Old
Ages: K-Gr. 3
Packed full of facts and details that explain the origin of this strange occasion held every year on February 2nd. The author proceeds to tell us why we receive six more weeks of winter if the groundhog sees his shadow. Inside the book you will discover interesting facts about groundhogs, details about their hibernation and life cycles. The author also introduces us to other animals that are famous for predicting weather from around the world. The illustrations are painted in cartoon- like watercolor and the author included cute projects in the book. Always nice to know the facts surrounding unusual events isn’t it? Please introduce your child to furry Phil’s Canadian groundhog friend – Wiarton Willy. He’ll poke his head out soon in our country and tell us his weather forecast for spring.
